What does Father’s Day mean to you?

It’s Father’s Day again. What’s that mean to you? For most of us it’s a holiday we see on a calendar once a year, and for others it’s a day they may not want to remember for reasons of their own. Everyone has a biological father, but not everyone has a father they wish to call their own. Some of us even have never been lucky enough to meet our father. Things happen to us in life for a reason, a reason that is beyond imaginable thought. I am one of the lucky ones. I thank god for that!

 

The day, Father’s Day means so much to me. It’s another day that I can celebrate with the person that made me who I am today. Celebrate the greatest man ever to be in my life. I love my dad, and I find myself being most of everything he is. Like yesterday, as I was cutting the grass and one of my neighbors was driving by. I wave at him, actually I wave at all of them. I get that from my father. My dad waved at everyone that was passing by, even if they were just passing by and not a part of the neighborhood. I carry his smile, his looks, his strength, his heart and his great laugh! I love the fact that I get to spend these special moments with him. This life we live is a busy life, and at certain times not made for spending time with the ones you love most in this world.  I am fortunate to have this relationship with my father, and to have him in my life for so long. The one thing my father always tells me is that there is one thing you can not escape and that is death. One day I will have to experience that, but until then I will always think he is indestructible and my Super Hero! Learn to cherish every waking second with your dad. For one day, those moments will turn to memories and that is all you will have left.
